DIY – The Clash London Calling Trucker Jacket

When it comes to The Clash this takes me back when I was a little kid singing along to Rock the Casbah back in like 82. Singing along not knowing that this was y a punk rock band. When there was a time when music had messages that made the youth create changes. Now it’s a bit different since music has become a part of what is used to sedate the youth. This is what leads to believe this is one of the pieces I can say I truly enjoyed working on. Kirk has been down with EOS since around 94/95. I know the MG Family is proud to present these colors to one who has been with us for over a decade and also helped introduce us to the Tokyo crews. This piece was a lot of fun. I truly am relearning how to paint again, I wish I continued to practice all the different techniques I learned when I was younger. So as the MG & HKM club begins to grow we add some international flavor to it by having DJ Muro represent us out in Tokyo, Japan. His history with us goes back to the E.O.S. days in the early and mid 90’s. Kirk was the connect for us and introduced us way back then. A shout to him and T who used to do 7 Summits Distribution and was a huge part of bringing the EOS crew to the land of the rising sun back then. Like I stated before I have a few I’m working on and I’d like to be able to present a few more colors to people next month.

I enjoy working on my computer but there’s a different kind of satisfaction you get when you actually create something by hand. My wife and I have been talking about different ways to make the jackets have different dimensions so this time around we were able to rely on my wife’s skill with the needle and thread to do some yarn embroidery by hand. We decided to go about it a little differently by tweaking the jacket all together instead of just the back. She added some pop color to the front but just enough not to take it over board. I think it looks pretty awesome. I’m currently in the middle of finishing up another one of our children’s jacket. The kids will all be outfitted for sure when spring comes around. For now this is the latest edition of the young MG clan.

It’s a bit too chilly right now to sit outside and rock a piece. The craving is still there but I’m definitely not trying to freeze my butt off. So instead of getting cabin fever and losing my mind I’m putting my energies into other things. Jabster gave me his book recently and out of a few sketches I was able to complete one in full color. I picked another page of his to show off also.

DIY – Gangstarr Denim Jacket

Simple isn’t always the easiest of things to pull off at times. When I started this jacket I couldn’t help but think how quickly I’d be able to finish it…WRONG!! Way, way later here we are and it is finished. I decided to do the MG colors on the back some felt on those one. I think this will help set different areas for the club. MG west Coast family members will have their colors in felt while east coast will have them hand painted. Back to the original train of thought, most of the time if it looks like it is so easy, it really is not. As simple of a 2 color job this was it really turned out to be something that my I would want to make it as perfect as I can.
This one is for all you Lo, Guess, Guru and DJ Primo heads out there. Taking it back to when I first saw the video “manifest” on Video Music Box, The Box that rocks!!!! No denying this is for a true die hard fans!!

DIY – Fleetwood Mac Denim Vest

It took way too long for me to complete this piece. So many things happening that it makes you feel like you need to work with blinders on in order to focus. This jacket is of course Fleetwood Mac and it had to be during the period when Stevie Knicks was involved. She was a cute little thing back then. When people first saw the beginning stages they automatically loved it.

Finally got the chance to get a full connection of all the finished pieces. You have Smoke – Dash, Revel – Jabs and Rival – Vins.

When Eli saw the post of the wall we did on 116th and Park he sent me a pic of his piece since I didn’t have it. He also told me told me that OZ156•DMS passed away and sent me a flic of the wall they did in the abandoned factories in South Side Brooklyn back then. I remember trooping out there with the crew earger to rock pieces too. Sucks I don’t have any of those pics to document all we did.

Veteran’s Day (2009) Taking it Back

In the spirit of Veteran’s Day I have to always give an MG salute to my Father, Brothers, Uncles and my Grandfather as well as all those that have served. This is what MG & HKM (Mothergreen & Her Killing Machine – a name use for the marines) was built upon, a respect for those that we cherish and those loved ones we’ve lost through out all of life’s battles and wars till the day. I came across some pictures I had stashed and felt like sharing them with you all. This was in 2009 when I was helping the In4mation Ohana when they had an office on 25th street across from Madison Sq. Park. I just remember back in the late 80’s this was a crazy dope fiend park. Pretty sad considering the Veteran’s memorial they have there. I mean it was pretty shadey to go through at night and even all of the craziest dudes I knew still stayed away from there unless need be.

Okay so back to these pictures, I have always loved cars since a little kid and like any little kid I have fond memories being around them as well. Like I recall my uncle building and working on his Chevy hot rod in our Great Aunties farm in PR. Then I got to see my brothers before they joined the service with their 70′ Dodge Charger and a 69′ Chevy Camaro. I just loved the way they looked and how the engine sounded once they turned it on. So that leads me to these pictures which are of the Vet’s who were taking these precious cars up 5th ave in celebration. I know all the car enthusiasts will enjoy these pictures as much as i did seeing them there and are more likely to know what year these models are as well. My favorite are definitely the Rat Rods and the station wagon with the dog fighter colors…Love it!!! Not to say it reminds a bit of National Lampoon’s Animal House as well.
